Pulaski County Habitat for Humanity

Church Relations

A Christian Ministry Calling Churches to Action
Habitat for Humanity was created to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ, so it is natural that the church—Christ’s body in the world—should be a primary partner in Habitat’s work.

Churches are essential in grounding the work of Habitat in the gospel message and undergirding the ministry of Habitat in prayer. The most successful Habitat for Humanity affiliates are the ones with the strongest church support, and churches have proven to be Habitat’s most reliable and long-term partners.

Partnering with Churches to End Poverty Housing
The Church Relations department of Habitat for Humanity International and local church relations teams help congregations organize campaigns to build houses—and so much more. Habitat for Humanity is about tearing down walls and building bridges. It is about bringing hope and transforming lives. It is about serving God by serving others.

The vision of Habitat is that all people have a decent place in which to live. Trust in God propels this movement forward and helps change the world—one family at a time.

Benefits of Church Partnerships
Habitat for Humanity affiliates benefit from all the contributions that churches make to this ministry. The prayer, financial and volunteer support that churches provide is the backbone of Habitat’s work.

What Can My Church Do?
Most importantly, every church can pray for the work of Habitat for Humanity around the world. Churches support the ministry of Habitat in a number of other ways and at a variety of levels. Church partnership opportunities include: volunteering, fund raising, serving on committees, praying, donations and getting others involved.

How Do We Get Started?
We organize specific church-sponsored builds or create events that focus on church partnerships. Campaigns such as an Apostle’s Build (a partnership of 12 churches based on the biblical concept of the 12 apostles in ministry with Jesus) give churches a terrific opportunity to get a taste of Habitat.
